During the 1980s, local freelance writer Bonnie Speer started a writers’ group that later became Friday Writers. It’s been a godsend for individuals who wanted to crank up their enthusiasm for the writing life.
Friday Writers is a critique group. This is how it works. You bring several copies of your story (maximum 10 pages per day) for others to edit as you read the copy aloud. Members tell the writer what they like about the story. Suggestions are made about spelling, punctuation and grammar. When you are finished, you get all the pages back with the editing marks. It’s a wonderful way to propel your writing to the next level.
